Abbott Northwestern and United Hospitals have been awarded certification as Comprehensive Stroke Centers by DNV GL Healthcare. Your loved ones also benefit from around-the-clock care services. No matter what situation occurs, you will have someone in your home to look after you and take care of your household tasks every day.

Armistead has been like my “right hand.” I can’t say enough positive things about them. I have found that they have always had someone available when we’ve needed their assistance. And the best part is, my aunt really enjoys them; she always looks forward to the staff coming in and they have become like “family” to her as well as to the rest of us. They have never let us down!
Recently, as part of the celebration of National Rural Health Day, Bradley County Medical Center announced it has been recognized by The Chartis Center of Rural Health and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) for overall excellence in Outcomes, reflecting top quartile performance among all rural hospitals in the nation.
Marshall Medical’s Stroke Network team includes the physicians and staff of the ED who are the first line of treatment once a patient enters the ED with stroke symptoms.  Alongside them are Stroke Coordinator Ken Atchison, and Quality Data Analyst-RN Allison Trammell who work to promote the evidence-based guidelines and assist the ED to ensure they are familiar with any new updates. This team’s effort in promoting evidence-based guidelines and providing the very best treatment possible to patients coming in to the ED is worthy of recognition.

“We are currently negotiating funding with the HSE, to further develop the service so that it’s rapidly available to everybody,” says Thornton. “We began the service without any additional funding or new structures in place. There are charities such as the Irish Heart Foundation that are currently in the process of reviewing guidelines to publish a formal protocol for patients and doctors on how to approach and deal with a large-vessel stroke. But we need the HSE to formally recognise the importance of medical thrombectomy and to support urgent development of the service because it is essential that stroke patients in Ireland are getting the best standard of care possible.”
Fast recognition and treatment can not only make the difference between life and death, but it can also decrease long-term disabilities. To develop a streamlined response to potential stroke patients, the American Heart Association developed the Stroke Chain of Survival. The chain involves eight links or steps to be taken by patients, family members, prehospital and emergency room personnel in caring for stroke patients.
